Raj is a substantive part-time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at The Royal London Dental Hospital and spends part of his week in specialist practice. He is on the General Dental Council specialist lists in Restorative Dentistry and Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics.
Raj completed his undergraduate training at Bart’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2001. Following a number of years in general practice, he went on to complete his mono-specialty training in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at Bart’s and The Royal London Hospital in 2008.
After a number of years in private specialist practice and as an Associate Specialist in Prosthodontics at Bart’s and The Royal London Hospital, he went on to complete his second specialty training in Restorative Dentistry at St George’s and King’s Dental Hospitals in London, which he completed in 2018.
In addition to his interests above, his clinical areas of interest within the hospital include the management of head and neck cancer patients as well as the rehabilitation of patients with complex acquired dento-alveolar and oro-facial defects. He has a particular interest in implantology, endodontics and complex prosthodontic care. He is the Dental Core Training Lead for Restorative Dentistry at The Royal London Hospital and has a strong commitment to high quality education delivery. As such, he is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary and The Royal London Dental Hospital. He is also a longstanding examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England and has examined and lectured both nationally and internationally.
Raj has trained extensively and developed considerable skills, enabling him to assess comprehensively, plan and provide simple and complex treatment plans that blend prosthodontic (tooth replacement), endodontic (root canal disease), periodontic (gum disease) and implant dentistry-based disciplines.
He is committed to dental rehabilitative approaches that employ conservative, patient-centred, and evidence-based approaches.
Outside of dentistry, Raj enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children. He enjoys cycling and running to keep fit. He has a passion for vintage performance cars and motorsport.
